Join us in store at Petrarch’s Bookshop on Saturday 15th August between 10:30am – 12pm as we welcome Glenn Carins to sign copies of their new book, Ringarooma Days.

Upper Ringarooma was at the epi-centre of the early European settlement of Tasmania’s north-east. Thousands of Tasmanians can trace family connections to this district where pioneering farming, mining and timber communities took shape from the 1860s.

Settlements including Alberton, Krushka Town, New River/Legunia, Pinega, Talawa/ Maurice and Trenah, eventually coalesced as present day Ringarooma.

Ringarooma Days traces the story of these communities from the earliest years to the present, capturing the hardships and hopes, work and play, humour and determination that shaped life in the valley. Blending local history with the stories of ordinary people, it offers a rich portrait of a district whose character was forged by hard work, persistence and self-reliance.

Free event, all welcome!
