Holding An Event With Us

Book signings are hosted during normal opening hours.

Generally, on a Friday or Saturday morning (10:30am – 12.00pm), but during peak periods, other days can work.

We set up a table for 1.5 hours where the author can sit and discuss their book with customers. The signing will be promoted via our event database and social media as well as in-store.

A book signing is a good option if the author doesn’t have a large social network within the greater Launceston area.

Book launches are held mid-week between 6pm – 7.30 pm on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening.

Our maximum capacity instore is 40 (capacity to seat 30 ).

An example event structure for an event at Petrarch’s:

• Author Presentation 30-45 minutes

This time can be a combination of author talk, launch, in-conversation interviews and audience questions.

• Book signing to follow author presentation

Petrarch’s would supply wine, juice and water for guests. We would also promote the event via our social media, database, and in-store.

A book launch is only suggested for authors with a large social network within the Launceston area. Our experience suggests that the majority of launch attendees come because of a personal connection with the author.

Larger launches 50+ can be held offsite with Petrarch’s assisting to organise your event or attending in a bookseller only role. Please contact us to enquire about this option.

The stock of the book must be able to be purchased as returnable event stock directly from the author or distributor at the wholesale standard trade discount of 40% of the retail price. Preferably, books should be delivered to the store two weeks before the event to allow for in-store promotion.
