Sheila the Sheep is based on a true story.Sheila was a Tasmanian sheep who was ready for shearing, but decided shehad a better idea ? Sheila disappeared into the bush, not to be seen again for six long years.In Sheila the Sheep, Adrienne Charles draws on her love of Tasmanian native animals and history to capture the untold journey of Sheila.As a teenager in the early 1950s, Adrienne worked as a governess on an outback sheep property in New South Wales. This became the inspiration for her first book, Tumbling Tommy (2006). Since 1990, Adrienne has been designing and producing counted cross-stitch kits of historic homes in Tasmania.
